Leeds admissions: demystifying the selection process
Thursday 2nd November 2017, 4:00pm - 4:45pm GMT
Hilary Steel, Policy and Qualifications Officer, University of Leeds
Learn about the admissions process at Leeds; how we assess your students' applications; the facts, the common misconceptions and how you can help maximise your students' chances of securing a place at the University.
Competition for places on undergraduate programmes at Leeds is high and meeting the eligibility requirements is not always a guarantee of admission. This session provides an insight into the decision making process at Leeds, discussing the extent to which each aspect of the applicant's profile matters, how the different aspects influence each other and how they are used in conjunction to arrive at a final decision. It also corrects some of the common fallacies about the admissions process and highlights pitfalls that should be avoided by applicants.
The session will also explore application rates to Leeds, the landscape for 2018 entry and the changes affecting university admissions such as qualification reforms and the EPQ.
There will be time at the end of the session for you to put your questions to Hilary. If you have any specific questions you would like to put forward in advance, please email email@example.com

The session will also explore the format, structure and role of Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) which start taking place at the University in January. To help you prepare your students, example questions and scenarios will be considered, along with advice on the dos and don’ts on the day.
